Business Week 120 - Three roads
When in doubt, stop being in doubt
This week I finally received the keys to my investment flat. This week also put me in doubt about the best way to move forward. The first road is to sell the flat for a higher price if there is someone interested in buying it. The second road is to renovate and rent it for a long-term (a typical load duration is a year). The third road is to renovate it and rent it for a short term.
For the majority of this week, I was constantly considering all options. I do not have anyone interested in buying the flat currently so the first option is let's say doubtful, but on the flip side I am not doing everything I could to promote the flat - I am not eager to sign a deal with any agency or heavily promote it on my empty social media. I am also aware that the renting market is difficult this year in Poland and it will be difficult to expect a good investment rate at the start. The short-term rent market is also a risky one - we all heard the stories of people organizing wild parties or destroying the flat.
Being in doubt all I can do is actually gather more info about all the options. I will meet a couple of agencies managing short-term flat renting to gather more insights as for now I am tempted to go in this direction.
The thing with making some decisions is that the way we judge them is based on the unknown (or our imagination of the future). We don't know what the future brings, we can only assume something. Also, the same decision can be judged in a different way, in different moments - in a year, in five years, or in ten years.
So, should we care that much? Maybe we should trust ourselves that we are capable of making the best decisions and stop overthinking 🧐🤷♂️
