Life Week #109 - Time to move on?

Changing work place is the super heavy level of decision to make

I believe I already convinced myself that I am ready to move on and change my base workplace. Although working in a great work environment, doing amazing projects and earning a pretty decent amount of money there is a couple of topics that make me strongly consider my options.

First of all, I still feel that I do not use the full scope of possibilities related to remote work. I am working remotely right now, but still earning in local currency. Sure, being part of the EU means that remote work is similarly paid everywhere, but still, we're far from the US level of salaries and this makes me feel a bit frustrated especially when my friend enjoys all the benefits of cooperating with the US. Second of all, I miss team building. I am not an extravert person. If I work in a team for several months I am eager to build my relations inside the team as in practice we spend half of our week life working together. Here, it seems like no one is interested in building a team spirit, having some time for gossip, etc. Working remotely it's important for me to have a moment simply to get to know each one better and have some space for chit-chat, not only for constant work. Working remotely we don't have a coffee machine in the office to meet there. Third of all, for the first time in my dev life I am experiencing taking a project out of my hands after releasing the full product as this was meant to happen from the very beginning. Typically I maintained projects for years until I decided that I was tired of it and I needed a change. This time I feel that someone is taking something I don't want to give up on and I don't feel great about it, especially since I have no idea what kind of project is waiting for me behind the next door. All in all, it seems that I am finally ready to leave the project and move somewhere else. My expectations are simple - to find an interesting internal product I can develop in a team opened for team building with a full exposition on remote US salaries. As simple as that 😅
