Life Week #44 - Last Christmas

The retrospective is educating but be careful - it can both motivate and demotivate you

It's Christmas time so I had to use the opportunity to look back a year ago. Usually what I am used to is reading or listening to people proud of what they have achieved in the past year - the idea for that is to feel proud but also to prove and motivate others that lots can be done within a year.

I'm trying to retrospectively go back through the past year and I am slowly realizing it wasn't a great year. I am already feeling with with some inner voice trying to tell me that I should stop not to become frustrated. Still, should I be pessimistic? Let's try to find out.

Health

I am in slightly worse form and shape compared to last year, definitely running less and slower this year, still, this is the first year since I was a kid that I slept 7-8 hours a day - daily!

Love

This year was the 20th anniversary of my relationship. I'd say it was one of the better years and we still love each other.

Children

We still have family issues with our inconsistency and children testing our borders, on the other hand, we pushed towards looking for the best ways to use children's skills. My son is a wrestler that has won already a couple of tournaments while my daughter has started singing and is about to appear in the first show. They have also progressed in their approach and results in school.

Family

This year required us to help the older generation due to health issues. I think this was the main reason for some frustrations between members of our inner family.

Work

I am still looking for a dream job. I changed one this year which was a very difficult decision to make but sometimes you need to change things from time to time to gain not also more experience but also more perspective.

Business

The only constant thing is change. We are constantly looking a success in a business, but I believe we are too impatient and inconsistent in the way we approach it. Still, I am a tech co-founder building a startup and this idea looks promising although we are still in the early days.

Finance

We paid off our smaller mortgage and built a small safety cushion. In general, it was a good year. Inflation of live costs is highly impacting our balance.

Summary

It was not a perfect year, but still a good one. Let's hope to keep the momentum going in the next year. Merry Christmas!
