Life Week #74 - Live, work, sleep
The triangle of life is so beautiful if the sides are equal
In an ideal world, you sleep for 8 hours, you work for 8 hours and you live for 8 hours. That seems to be pretty fair, right? You give yourself enough time to recharge the batteries, to use those batteries to live an interesting life, and to earn some bucks to spend on that.
The thing is that life is not that simple.
Let's say you wake up in the morning fully rechanged, with plenty of energy and ideas. How do you start your typical day? With work! An ideal place to take whole your energy out and leave you with a brain fart for the rest of the day. Why is that we don't spend the powerful hours of the day on living and work in the afternoon? 🤷♂️
Let's say you end your work after typical 8 hours. Can you live your life for the whole next ones? Well, you still potentially need to spend some time traveling between work & home, you need to cook sth, do some shopping, clean, and maybe fix some stuff. In practice, it means a further couple of hours of your time, daily. From with part of your day will you subtract it? From work, life or sleep? 🧐
Let's say that you also want to change something in your life, eg. you wanna change your work, start a business, educate, etc. From with part of the day you'll subtract it having in mind that you need to work to balance your expenses. 🫣
Here we have the issue - the triangle of life is broken
. If you sleep, work & live 8 hours a day you are already stuck in one place having no real time for daily duties. You have to borrow your time from one of the sides of the triangle. If you want a bigger change you need to take the even bigger part of the cake of your day. Which part will be limited? Life or sleep? I bet it is not gonna be work, right? 🙃
Is this the tragedy of the current system of education and work?
