Life Week #80 - Signed
The purchase is just the beginning, not the end...
We signed it! It took several years of discussions and considerations, receiving the opposite messages and considering our options. It took months of serious discussions and collecting documents. It took an hour to sign one of the most important documents of our life - our aunt gave her house to us and we agreed to take care of her once she will be old and will need it.
This is huge, as for the last 15 years we considered this house as our second home, we spent every holiday there but till now we knew that if something happens to our aunt the whole family will simply sell it. Now, we are confident that this house will stay in the family and we may start thinking about spending our retirement there.
This is also huge, as nearly everything in this house requires renovating, maybe except for the roof and the heating stove. The house was built more than 30 years ago and has not been renovated since then. The truth is that the quality of materials used to build it was premium at that time. This is why it still looks good after many years but the time passes by, new technologies appear, and old stuff gets slowly broken so we have plenty of topics to address.
This is both challenging and exciting! We love discussing renovations, we like performing renovations, we just need to make it right.
This is already a piece of big news for this week, but I should also mention that I won an auction to rent a garage for 5 years. This rent should solve our spacing problems in the flat before we can transfer some of the stuff to the house next year. I don't expect to maintain the rent for the whole 5 years but at least for the incoming winter.
Other than that, I am still running a discussion related to selling my flat. I don't expect it to end too quickly as the price is set a bit over the market but I am not in a rush.
What is more, I am considering my work options as the raises have been frozen for several months already which is slightly disturbing in the environment with high inflation around. Having in mind that the future of the project I am engaged in is uncertain I am seriously wondering if this ain't the right time for my next move.
