My Week #136 - The lack of worries as a remedy?
Knowing what to do is sometimes simpler than actually doing it...
What I know for sure is that I have arrhythmia. I suspect that this is caused by the constant higher level of stress applied to my life for the last several months. If my assumption is right, the best way to fix my arrhythmia, other than taking pills is to reduce the amount of stress, right? So, what can I do to reduce the amount of stress?
My guess, based on reading Dale Carnegie's How to Stop Worrying and Start Living
, is that one of the main reasons for my high-stress level is my worries: - what will I do if I lose my job? - what will I do if the real estate market collapses or my apartment finishing fails? - what will I do if my children fail to qualify for good secondary schools? - what will I do if my wife loses interest in me?
Pressure caused by the money & external expectations makes me constantly worried - if not consciously, then subconsciously. Worries increase the level of stress. Continually increased level of stress harms my body.
Makes sense? I think so.
So, how do I get rid of the worries? According to the book, the quick solution is to become prepared for the worst. What if the worst-case scenario happens? What will I do? I need to prepare myself for each scenario and see if I feel better now.
