My Week #148 - Last Christmas

The retrospective is educating but be careful - it can both motivate and demotivate you

It's Christmas time so I had to use the opportunity to look back a year ago. Usually what I am used to is reading or listening to people proud of what they have achieved in the past year - the idea for that is to feel proud but also to prove and motivate others that lots can be done within a year.

Health

On the bright side of life I could mention the fact that currently I have probably the best shape and form of my life. I've been practicing nearly daily with the new Zing app for more than two months already and I can already see the benefits of it.

On the dark side of life, I have been unable to heal my arrhythmia for most of the last year. It started in the spring and lasted for the whole year. I had to abandon my dreams to run the marathon and I am a bit frustrated with this. I even forgot about my cholesterol problems 🀷

Overall I am feeling very good, I also hope that my new workplace will reduce my level of stress🀞

Love

Last year of my marriage was a stable one. It's 16 years already, I am proud of that. We still fact some ups & downs, but find ways to solve those issues which is great.

Children

My son is already heighter than me πŸ™ˆ Still, he behaves like a child so many times. This year he started building his first relationships with girls which kinda makes him enter the next level of the growing up. Still, everything about him is so inmature. I believe that due to his height we expect him to be more serious and responsible and the brain is not yet catching up. We definitely need to be more patient.

Our daughter has her own struggles - with emotions, with sensitivity, with building relationships. She became a teenager and we can hear that pretty laudly from time to time. This ain't expected behaviour but this is something we probably need to work on. She is not a scout anymore, we did not have enough time to cover that all, but she still sings. She became a major singer is her school which gives her changes to participate in many events.

Family

The family will not be younger anymore. All the issues we faced last year stayed with us for this year too. The situation is stable for now but it's rather walking a line not on a pavement.

Work

I changed my workplace. I moved from small organization with a startup mindset to the huge corporation with all corpo processes you can imagine. This is a new world for my but my primary goal was to try to change something to find a right balance between my earnings and my health - or to name it more precisely - to limit my level of stress without loosing too much money. It's too early to judge if I made a right decision - we'll see it in a year.

Business

All our side projects died the last year. Without the consistency in the action you cannot achieve anything. However, we completed our side project related to the apartment for the short-term loan. We are signing a contract and the apartment will appear on the market early next year. I am proud of what we achieved here.

Finance

We survived this year even when pushing all our savings to the finishing of the apartment we bought at the end of the last year. Our overall financial situation for now is a pretty good one. We made huge investment, now we reach a moment when we want to rebuild our savings and look for other goals. I am especially happy as the job market is not great this year and it is difficult to maintain similar level of income.

Summary

It was a good year. I don't need a better one, let's just hope the next one is not much worse than this one. Well done man πŸ‘
