My Week #151 - One project completed, another one started
I do not accept the void
I can finally announce that I completed my first project since the start of this blog! It took me nearly 3 years to complete the first one, but I am still proud of it. I attempted to start many before, but there always was a reason that made me abort the project. This is the first one I pushed to the successful completion. Should I make a retrospective on that project? This is actually a good idea!
So, Dear Me...
What went well?
- The project was completed.
- We did not need any loan from the bank to complete it.
- It was well designed, keeping in mind a long game, not only short-term use.
- I learned a lot when it comes to apartment design & finishing.
- The final result is breath-taking 😍
- No one was seriously hurt, although it was close.
What went wrong?
- The project lasted much longer than it was initially planned.
- The project budget was exceeded by 40-50% making me operate on a skinny budget in the last weeks.
- I was close to being seriously hurt.
Conclusions for the future
- Each project needs an anchor that will force you to complete it.
- Your estimation of the project duration & cost is probably sheeeety.
- The more exciting it is at the beginning, the more frustrating it is later on, just before completing it.
- If you want help, you need to find cash for a specialist or time to invest in teaching others.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help. Don't be afraid to pay for help. You can do a lot on your own, but you can't do everything.
Btw, did I mention that I do not accept the void? One project is completed, and another one is started
. This time my goal is to complete the first digital project. Keep your fingers crossed for me 🤞
