My Week 190 - Next challenge
It's good to have something to write on your grave
This was a nice week. Many people asked me about and congratulated me on the marathon effort. After a few discussions, I noticed the same pattern β some of them asked me βwhat is my next challenge,β while others said they hoped I would finally sit down. The first group, mostly younger, a bit less careful but also positive, started joking and suggesting an ultra, triathlon, etc. The second group, mostly older members of my family who care a lot about me, really expected me to slow down and take care of myself.
Who is right? Should we slow down and take care? Or should we move on to the next goal once the previous one is completed? I am not sure. I believe they both have a point, but internally, I feel I canβt slow down too much β that would kill me inside. Sure, due to my cardiovascular issues I should probably relax a bit, but my mind requires new challenges.
For sure, I will not completely stop running, but I will define my next challenge. One of the things that comes to mind is becoming better at swimming, but to accomplish that, I need to define a clear goal I believe in. Another idea is becoming better at chess, which is also super exciting, but it wonβt help me find a good balance between the mental and physical parts of my life. This is why swimming is so tempting. I might have time for chess slightly later β weβll see π€·
