My Week #207 - Scared of the future

AI shit got serious, human future is in doubt..

Probably for the first time, I got scared of AI. I started using modern agentic tools in daily development, and they’re scary good and fast. My feelings about it are somewhere between amazement and fear. What amazes me is how quickly you can deliver good-enough things. What scares me is how quickly many people can deliver good-enough things.

People who don’t use efficient tools are already a dying species. People who do use efficient tools can’t feel confident enough to plan their mid-term and long-term future either. They should also be scared of the risk of redundancy. Knowing the domain you work in, along with system design and security challenges, are anchors that can keep you valuable in a project for longer - but I believe that, ultimately, the future will not wait.

The future will catch us sooner or later. It will change the way many people work and how much work is available to us.
