My Week #225 - Redesigning the redesign
Perfect from the vibe coding
Vibe coding is a vital part of my daily development process. However, at this stage, I see it primarily as a way to accelerate experimentation and testing of new gameplay ideas. When something doesn’t feel right, I either think about a small improvement or a complete redesign, and a few hours later I can already test the new experience. This is a game-changing experience for a developer.
Sure, some would say we should vibe-code, ship, and test directly in production, but I take a different approach. I can usually spot several bugs after just 30 minutes of playing the game, so with the vibe-code-ship-test approach, I would have to spend time fixing them. With my not-yet-released approach, I don’t care about bugs or the overall quality of the codebase at this stage. My goal is to first reach a point where the gameplay feels perfect.
Once I have a vibe-coded version of the ideal gameplay experience, I can start hardening the app and improving the codebase.
That's my strategy for the first phase of the new game development. Having a solid gameplay experience, confirmed by the youger generation of daily mobile game players, I can think of the backend and proper app design.
We're getting there, not sure when, but we're getting there 😊
