Life Week #50 - Pawns everywhere

What if life was a game of chess?

What if life was a game of chess? Initially, it seems like it would be much easier. Everything seems to be transparent, everyone starts with the same amount of figures and has the same amount of moves. Sure, there is the very tiny advantage of white pawns starting first, but pretty often the advantage is very small.

What seems fairly simple at first, occurs to become a bit more complex already at medium levels. You need to have a vision and a clear plan for several moves ahead foreseeing the opponent's moves at the same time! Trust me, it's not that easy after all. What is more, rules are clear and there is no space for interpretation.

Compared to this life, is very vague, very unfair and also very complex on several levels, but gives more changes and opportunities after all. In a chess game if you have a bad opening or you lose a knight without a clear idea of planned sacrifice you can slowly pack your stuff. Life can be brutal, but also from time to time gives you a helping hand and it's up to you, or a strike of luck if you can use it in the right way.

Personally, having a small obsession with control, I'd prefer a chess game compared to life due to the transparency and clear rules. But hey, I'm not the one in charge here. I can only practice both live & chess and try to become better at both, right?
